PTC SVP, Corporate and Patient Relations Mary Frances Harmon has been named to the 2020 PharmaVOICE 100, an annual list of the most inspiring people in the life sciences industry for her work in patient advocacy. PharmaVOICE caught up with Harmon in a video interview to discuss her legacy as a patient champion. She speaks candidly about witnessing heartbreaking rare disease patient stories, and finding inspiration in the heroic way patients and caregivers fight for life.

“The culture that has been built at PTC focuses around the patients.” – SVP, Corporate and Patient Relations Mary Frances Harmon

Harmon explains that her multiple accolades received in 2020 (including the Annual Heart of BioNJ award) are a tribute to a PTC Therapeutics-wide commitment to keeping rare disease patients top of mind. Citing the PTC STRIVE Awards grant program for patient advocacy, patient registries to collect real-world evidence, and PTC Cares – which helps patients gain access to PTC therapies in the United States, Harmon stresses the value of patient-centricity in drug development.
