Academic achiever, patient advocate, musician
Benjamin James
Benjamin James is a young man living with Duchenne from the UK. During Benjamin’s adolescence he was a keen musician with ambitions to be a sound engineer, however due to changes in his condition and after attending several Duchenne patient advocacy, support, and research conferences, he switched his focus to biological sciences. Benjamin went on to study Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham which he saw as a gateway opportunity to learn more about how the brain works. He also had opportunities to learn more about his condition and support other patients. And he even graduated with a first-class honors degree!
