Aurora

Patient Engagement Liaison

Aurora has dedicated her career to advocating for, educating, and empowering disadvantaged communities. She previously worked in the public health sector where she managed a National Cancer Institute educational campaign for multi-ethnic women, implemented statewide programs to reduce tobacco use among Latino youth, led a school-wide obesity and diabetes prevention initiative for at-risk children, and helped empower hepatitis C patients to improve their health outcomes.

Since 2019, Aurora has worked with Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients and caregivers to eliminate barriers to healthcare services and ensure they have access to optimal care. Her experience with Spanish-speaking families who face multiple social, educational, and financial challenges inspires her, and she assists on every level as much as possible.

Aurora believes that building trust is the foundation to understanding the challenges families face in order to better help them find solutions. Serving others is a calling, not just a career.

Aurora enjoys yoga, hiking, reading, and spending time with her daughter, Malia.
