Emily

Associate Director, Clinical Patient Engagement, Global

Emily has always had a desire to work with and help children and families. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and her Master’s degree from Illinois State University. Her background is in Child Life where she supported, advocated, and educated children and their families during their hospital admission. She functioned as a translator to families with medical information, breaking down complicated diagnoses and terminology and adapting it in a developmentally appropriate manner. Emily also created individualized preparation and education materials, such as a video on Dialysis and a children’s book explaining why a child’s new brother had to stay in the hospital. She enjoys being creative and adapting her approach with each child, teen, sibling, parent, or caregiver she interacts with as she understands all journeys and individuals are different.

Emily is passionate about family centered care, providing both children and families with the knowledge to advocate for themselves, ensuring their voices are being heard. She is enthusiastic to use her skills as a fellow here at PTC Therapeutics where she will continue to create educational materials for the rare disease community, support and advocate for children and families, and continue each day to be “Ever Better”.
