Axel Bolte has served as a member of PTC’s board of directors since December 2003. Currently Mr. Bolte serves as the U.S. Investment Advisor for HBM Partners (Cayman) Ltd. From March 2003 to September 2008, Mr. Bolte served as Investment Advisor at HBM Partners AG in Switzerland, a provider of investment advisory services in the life sciences industry. Previously, Mr. Bolte was an investment manager of NMT New Medical Technologies AG, the first Swiss venture capital company focused exclusively on life sciences. Before becoming a venture capitalist, Mr. Bolte held a position in R&D at Serono, SA in Geneva. Mr. Bolte has served on a number of boards of public and private biotech companies and currently is a member of the board for Nabriva Therapeutics, Lux Biosciences, MPex Pharmaceuticals, Ophthotech and Kolltan. Mr. Bolte holds an MBA from the University of St. Gallen (HSG). He studied biochemistry and organic chemistry at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and the University of Cambridge, UK, where he focused on the synthesis of complex natural products of marine origin.
