Dr. Schneider is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the New York University School (NYU) of Medicine. At NYU, he is also a member of the Program in Molecular Oncology and Immunology, an Associate Director of the NYU Cancer Institute, a member of the board of directors of the Center for AIDS Research, and Director of Translational cancer research and co-Director of the breast cancer research program. Dr. Schneider is the recipient of several awards for his accomplishments, including the Irma T. Hirschl Career Scientist Award. For his research on hepatitis B virus and liver cancer, he received an Eminent Researcher Award from the Indian Research Council. In collaboration with Dr. Silvia Formenti, Chair of Radiation Oncology at NYU, Dr. Schneider received the Estée Lauder Breast Cancer Research Foundation Award in 2002 and a Department of Defense Center of Excellence grant for breast cancer research. Dr. Schneider received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine.
